Hiking, Trails, and Preserves
The combined open space efforts of Willistown Township, Willistown Conservation Trust, East Goshen Township, and Upper Providence Township have played a significant role in protecting the water quality of Ridley Creek and helping to fulfill the Ridley Creek Plan. Since the publication of the Ridley Plan in 1997, several key parcels of land have been added to the ribbon of green along Ridley Creek in the form of public preserves:
Sugartown Barrens and Okehocking Preserve by Willistown Township
Ashbridge Preserve by Willistown Conservation Trust and the expansion of East Goshen Park by East Goshen Township
Lavin Tract and several other Ridley Creek properties by Upper Providence Township
Six additional acres for the 35 acre Saul Wildlife Preserve by Rose Valley Borough

CRC partners with local open space preservation groups as well as municipalities to help preserve and maintain creekside lands. These partner organizations include Willistown Township, East Goshen Township, Upper Providence for Open Space, and Middletown Township Land Conservancy.
Privately Eased Lands
Many creekside property owners in Willistown have generously donated conservation easements through the efforts of the Willistown Conservation Trust, the Brandywine Conservancy, and the Natural Lands Trust. The preservation of these properties has protected water quality by preserving forested lands and riparian buffers and has safeguarded wildlife corridors for birds and other wildlife.
