CRC Honors Aqua’s Craig Marleton and NLT’s Peter Williamson at Annual Dinner
Chester Ridley Crum Watersheds Association ( CRC) honored Craig Marleton, Aqua’s Environmental Specialist for the Brandywine, Neshaminy, Chester, Ridley, and Crum Creek Watersheds, and Peter Williamson, Vice President of Conservation Services for Natural Lands Trust, as the 2007 Award Recipients. The awards were presented at CRC’s Third Annual Dinner held on November 1, 2007 at the Edgmont Country Club. Craig and Peter were each honored as “a person who has made a significant contribution to the protection of CRC’s watersheds.”
In his tribute to Craig Marleton, Aqua VP Preston Luitweiler outlined Craig’s many accomplishments and explained how Craig has often been a very capable first responder to threats to local water supplies, including spills, overflowing sewer manhole covers, illicit discharges, or excessive algae on the reservoir. The award was presented by CRC’s Executive Director, Anne Murphy, who gave examples of how Craig has worked with CRC to improve protection of source water.
In her tribute to Peter Williamson, NLT’s President Molly Morrison called Peter “one of the most effective conservationists I know” and outlined Peter’s many accomplishments in conservation and land preservation in the region. CRC President Judith Auten commended Peter’s work with CRC on the Media Wetlands, authoring the Chester Creek and Ridley Creek Conservation Plans, and most recently obtaining a $1 Million grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources towards the acquisition of the Mineral Hill property along Ridley Creek in Middletown Township.
Craig and Peter also received citations from State Senator Andrew Dinniman and State Representative Barb Mc Ilvain Smith commending their outstanding service to the State of Pennsylvania.
