13th Annual CRC Streams Cleanup was Another Great Success!
Date: 06-04-2010
All Creeks
Saturday, May 1st was a day for breaking records during Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds Association’s 13th Annual Streams Cleanup. Braving unseasonably warm weather, an amazing 466 volunteers of all ages removed 14 tons of trash from 30 sites throughout Delaware County. Volunteers weren’t the only ones wading in the streams this past weekend, the most peculiar items in our waterways were: an entire set of bleachers, a TV, a desk, two recliners, four lawn chairs, four doors, a military wheel rim, and 79 tires.
Throughout all 30 sites, the most common pieces of debris were plastic bottles, and aluminum cans. In addition to cleaning our local waterways, volunteers planted 105 trees and shrubs, and cleared 1.5 acres of invasive plants from our streamside areas. CRC would like to express our sincere appreciation to the dedicated site coordinators, local business sponsors, municipal sponsors, public works employees, and volunteers who made this extremely successful event possible.

Earth Day Volunteers Make a Huge Splash in Goose Creek!
Date: 04-21-2010
Chester
What do three mattresses, four couches, a street lamp post, a bowling ball, six bikes, a Christmas tree, car batteries, a TV, an electric organ, and a kitchen sink all have in common?
These were some of the strangest items that were collected as part of a record haul from along Goose Creek and roadside areas on April 17th at the 5th Annual CRC Chester Creek Cleanup.
Over 400 dedicated individuals removed the 14 tons of trash and 42 tires from alongside three miles of Goose Creek and 27 miles of roads in East Goshen-almost doubling the amount of trash removed last year.
Chester Ridley Crum Watersheds Association organized the event along with the sponsoring municipalities of West Goshen, West Chester, East Goshen, and Thornbury, Chester County Water Resources Authority and area Lions Club. CRC also thanks the coordinators, public works employees, business sponsors, residents, and students that made this all possible. To view more photos, friend us on Facebook (crc watersheds)!
