Fishing Organizations

Delco Manning Trout Unlimited, Delaware County Field and Stream, and Delco Anglers are three local organizations which promote the enjoyment of local fishing and implement trout stocking and habitat enhancement projects. TU and Delco Anglers have also worked with CRC on streambank restoration projects along the lower Ridley Creek.

DelcoManning Trout Unlimited implements stream improvement projects along Ridley Creek, raises money for stocking and assists with state stocking, and hosts youth education programs. Youth Fly Fishing Day is conducted with the Sporting Gentleman.

DelcoAnglers is a 120-member nonprofit organization working on dam removal, stream restoration, increasing public fishing access, and trout stocking in the Chester and Ridley Creek watershed. The organization operates a trout nursery on Dismal Run, which it uses to stock Ridley, East Branch of Chester, and Darby Creeks. Delco Anglers has been releasing shad fry into Ridley Creek since 2003, with the expectation that these migratory will return now that the first two dams on the Lower Ridley have been removed.
